The plant Microsorum pteropus, native to Asia, is an aquatic fern, which should be grown on a root or stone, fixed with nylon cord until it is firmly grown. If planted in the substrate, do not cover the rootstock, otherwise it will rot. The plant is easily propagated by dividing the horizontal rootstock (rhizome). An undemanding plant that grows in all conditions and reaches 15-30 cm in height. The black spots that form on the underside of the leaves are spore containers (reproductive organs) and not a disease as is often suspected.
