The flat ADA Riccia Stones were developed by Takashi Amano himself when he discovered the beautiful, but unfortunately floating on the water surface growing pond liverwort Riccia fluitans as a ground cover for his aquascapes in the natural aquarium.
Because the beautiful light green moss shoots don’t want to stay down on their own, you have to help them along: A small amount of Riccia fluitans is best wrapped tightly onto a Riccia Stone using the inconspicuous light green Riccia Line (please order separately). The pond liverwort will sprout and grow into a nice dense bush in the aquarium. From time to time the Riccia on the ADA Riccia Stones needs to be trimmed to keep the moss clumps in top condition.
The stones bound with Riccia (or other moss) can either be placed close together to form a dense moss carpet, or individually in the foreground of the aquarium as an eye-catcher for individual moss cushions. Moss stones on the basis of ADA Riccia Stones are perfectly suited for separating areas of sand and soil – so the different substrates in the aquarium do not mix with each other.
Thanks to their dark color, the naturally shaped flat Riccia Stones are visually very inconspicuous in the aquarium. The stones do not harden the water. They are between 15 and 60 mm in size.
Of course, all other mosses and perching plants such as Bucephalandra or Anubias can be attached to the beautiful flat Riccia Stones from Aqua Design Amano!
